Frequently asked questions

Why can't I simply insert SC/UPC into an SC/APC port directly?

Because of the difference in end-face polishing angle (flat for UPC and angled 8° for APC), a direct connection causes high losses and may damage the connector; a hybrid patch cord solves this problem correctly.

Which end connects where?

SC/UPC connects to equipment or a port with a UPC connector, SC/APC connects to a port or ODF with an APC connector; mixing them up is structurally impossible due to the different housing color.

Is a 1 m patch cord suitable for installation outside the cabinet?

The 1 m length is intended exclusively for patching inside a cabinet or cross-connect; for inter-cabinet wiring, choose longer patch cords.
