Description
The 1×8 PLC splitter with SC/UPC connectors is a planar optical splitter that distributes the signal of one fiber to eight subscriber directions with even power division. It comes in a compact steel mini-module that fits into distribution frames, closures and subscriber boxes. The 1260–1650 nm operating range covers all GPON and EPON wavelengths, and the insertion loss of about 10.5 dB stays stable across temperature swings. It is the basic passive element of a network when connecting apartment buildings and office blocks.
Planar technology distinguishes PLC from fused FBT splitters: the split is formed on an optical chip, so power is distributed evenly across all ports and does not drift over the wavelength range. For the operator this means a predictable optical budget — eight subscribers from one central-office fiber with an equal signal level. The blue SC/UPC connectors mate with the standard adapters of frames and boxes without transition cords.
Advantages
- Even power division into 8 directions
- Full 1260–1650 nm range — all PON wavelengths
- Steel mini-module — installation in a frame, closure or box
- Stable insertion loss of about 10.5 dB across temperature swings
- Passive design with no power supply or maintenance
- SC/UPC connectors for standard adapters
Applications
- Floor GPON nodes of apartment buildings
- Distribution closures of backbone lines
- Subscriber and outdoor boxes
- Networks of office buildings and business centers
Mounting and connection
The mini-module is fixed in a cassette or on the box's mounting area with ties; the input and output fibers are laid observing the bend radius. Before connection, the connectors are inspected and cleaned if needed — a contaminated end face adds loss beyond the rated figure. The line's optical budget should allow about 10.5 dB for the splitter plus splice and connector losses; the result is verified with a power meter. In the network the splitter sits between the central-office OLT and the subscriber ONUs — usually in a floor or yard box. We supply splitters, boxes and pigtails from our warehouse in Tashkent and help calculate the network's optical budget.
