Modern IP video intercoms give a clear picture of the visitor, event recording and phone viewing — you answer the call and open the door remotely, even away from home or office. The intercom integrates with access control, electronic locks and CCTV into a single security system.

Intercoms differ by tenant count and connection type. An individual video intercom for one flat or house is a door panel at the gate and a monitor inside; a multi-tenant entrance system serves dozens of flats from one panel and works with key fobs or cards. IP intercoms carry the call over the network and into a mobile app: the resident sees the guest from a phone even when away, and can open the door remotely. Offices and warehouses more often take an audio panel wired to the security desk.

Installation takes from a few hours for one flat to a day or two for an entrance block. The order is: survey, panel and monitor placement, cabling, lock and closer installation, commissioning, app setup and resident training. A frequent separate job is replacing an old coordinate system: the panel and handsets are swapped for a video intercom, reusing the existing wiring where possible — noticeably cheaper than rebuilding the entrance from scratch.

The door panel is only part of the kit. It needs an electromagnetic or electromechanical lock, a closer, a power supply with a backup battery and an exit button, and for an entrance block — a vandal-proof panel. We match the kit to the site — a vandal-proof outdoor panel, a lock chosen by door weight and type, a power supply with reserve for outages — and tie the intercom to access control: residents and staff pass by card or phone, guests by call, and every event lands in one system together with video.

The cost adds up differently for an apartment and for a building entrance. An individual kit — panel, monitor, lock and power — is priced per item and installed in a day. In a multi-tenant system the economics differ: the panel, switch and lock are shared by everyone, so the per-apartment price comes out noticeably lower, and the replacement decision is usually made by the homeowners' association or the management company — we prepare a calculation for them with handset and monitor options and help carry the residents' vote.

Intercoms we installed ourselves go onto scheduled maintenance, and we honour the warranty on the equipment we supplied. The weak points are known in advance: stuck buttons and cracked panel hoods, dead power supplies, demagnetized locks, torn handset lines in apartments — we keep common panels, handsets and power units in stock, so a replacement takes a single visit and the entrance does not live for weeks with an open door. An installation built by another contractor we take on through an audit and a modernization with equipment replacement, after which the site goes onto maintenance on the usual terms.
