What makes up the price
The cost of CCTV consists of four parts: cameras, a recorder with storage, cabling and consumables, plus installation and setup work. The more cameras and the higher their resolution, the more both the equipment and the labor cost.
Archive depth is calculated separately: storing 30 days of footage instead of 7 requires a larger hard drive. Site conditions also affect the price — wall height, distance to the recorder, the need for wall chasing.
How many cameras you need
An apartment usually needs 1–2 cameras, a shop or office — 4–8, a warehouse, production floor or grounds — 8 and more. The exact number is determined during a site visit: entrances, checkouts, storage zones and blind corners must be covered.
More cameras is not always better. Sometimes one properly placed camera with a good lens covers a zone more effectively than two cheap ones.
Where you can and cannot save
It is reasonable to save on the recorder brand and on cloud subscriptions if local storage is enough. But do not save on camera quality in key zones (checkout, entrance) or on installation — redoing it costs more.
