The Dahua DHI-HY-1431R addressable loop isolator is the version for class R panels with a ring loop. In a ring topology the isolators work together with the redundancy scheme itself: the damaged section is cut off from both sides, while power and polling reach the devices the other way round. This gives the highest survivability available.

Frequently asked questions
Will this module fit an ordinary panel without a ring?
The R version is designed for class R panels. For a radial loop the DHI-HY-1431-CTXF model is used.
Why are isolators needed if the ring already provides redundancy?
A ring saves you from a break, but a short circuit loads the line from both sides. Isolators cut out exactly the shorted section.
Can isolators be added to a working system?
Yes, the modules are spliced into the loop and programmed to free addresses. The work is done without lengthy system shutdown.
