Mostly the extra cable, since the line returns to the panel. On large sites this premium is small next to the cost of downtime.
What happens if the cable breaks in two places?
A ring protects against a single fault. With two breaks the section between them is isolated and the rest keeps working — that is what loop isolators are for.
Does installation require a license?
