Description
The DY-2 is a compact high-precision optical fiber cleaver for preparing the fiber end face before fusion splicing or installing fast connectors. The guides accept fiber in 250 and 900 um buffer — the main format of subscriber and distribution installation. A clean perpendicular cleave is made in a single motion, and the carriage returns automatically after the cut, noticeably speeding up repetitive work.
The metal body with a non-slip base withstands the daily field work of FTTH crews and fiber network maintenance teams. Cleave quality directly determines the attenuation of the future joint, which is why an accurate cleaver is a mandatory part of even a budget splicing kit. A protective case for carrying is included; the tool is in stock at our Tashkent warehouse along with consumables for fiber installation.

Working with the tool
Before cleaving, the fiber is stripped of its buffer and wiped with a lint-free alcohol wipe. The fiber is then laid into the guide at the mark for the required length, the lid is closed — one motion of the carriage and the end face is ready for splicing or a connector. As the blade wears, it is rotated to a fresh position, extending the tool's service life. Fiber shards are dangerous: collect them in a dedicated container rather than brushing them off the workbench. Alongside the cleaver, an installer's kit usually includes a stripper, alcohol wipes and a fusion splicer or fast connectors.
