Hikvision vs Dahua: Which to Choose for Video Surveillance
Two global CCTV leaders compared honestly: ecosystems, analytics, pricing — and which one fits your project in Uzbekistan.
What the brands have in common
Hikvision and Dahua are the world's two largest CCTV manufacturers, and in basic image quality they have long been on par: comparable sensors, similar housings, IP67 protection and product lines from budget to professional. Both brands are officially represented in Uzbekistan with full factory warranty.
SAT Solutions is an authorized strategic integrator of Dahua Technology and an official Hikvision supplier: we install both brands daily and see their strengths and weaknesses on real sites, not in brochures.
Key differences in practice
Ecosystem and apps. Hikvision has Hik-Connect and iVMS; Dahua has DMSS and SmartPSS. Both are convenient, but if a site already runs one brand's equipment (intercoms, access control), staying in its ecosystem means one app and fewer integration issues.
Analytics. Hikvision promotes AcuSense (false-alarm filtering: human/vehicle) and ColorVu (full-color night vision); top series feature DeepinMind facial recognition. Dahua's counterparts are WizSense and WizMind with Full-Color: feature parity overall, with differences in implementation details and per-model pricing.
Price. In the mid-range Dahua often wins on price-to-spec ratio, while Hikvision offers the widest choice of niche solutions (panoramic, explosion-proof, thermal). At entry level both have sub-brands — HiLook and Imou.
What to choose for your task
Home or small office: budget decides — look at HiLook/Imou or junior series; reliability is practically identical. Shop, warehouse, production: take analytics series (AcuSense/WizSense) — false-alarm filtering saves hours of archive review. Large site with access control and intercom integration: pick the brand whose ecosystem will host the whole system.
Mixing brands is possible — cameras work with third-party recorders via ONVIF — but smart analytics only unfolds fully inside its native ecosystem. Our advice: one site — one brand.
Conclusion
There is no wrong choice here: both Hikvision and Dahua are reliable workhorses. The right question is not "which brand is better" but "which model solves your task within your budget". Send us your site plan — we will spec both brands and show you the difference in numbers.
