Price ranges: NVR and DVR
Network recorders (NVR) for IP cameras: 4-channel — roughly 0.8–1.5 million UZS, 8-channel — 1.5–3 million UZS, 16-channel — from 3 million UZS. Models with a built-in PoE switch cost more but remove the separate switch and PSUs — usually the better deal for 4–8 cameras.
A DVR for analog (Turbo HD/HDCVI) cameras is traditionally cheaper than an NVR of the same channel count — a solid choice if your cameras are already analog.
Do not forget the drive
Recorders ship without a hard drive. Surveillance needs purpose-built HDDs — WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk: 1 TB from ~450–600 thousand UZS, 4 TB about 1.5–2 million UZS. A regular desktop drive lasts far less in a recorder.
Capacity depends on camera count, resolution and archive depth: four 4 MP cameras with a 14-day archive need about 4 TB. We calculate it for your case free of charge.
Choosing the channel count
Take at least 2 spare channels — cameras almost always get added. Check incoming bitrate and resolution support, not just channels: a cheap 8-channel unit may not handle eight 8 MP cameras.
For homes and small business, HiLook or entry Hikvision/Dahua series are enough; for warehouses and production with analytics — higher series with AcuSense/WizSense.

Will a regular hard drive work?
It will, but not for long: surveillance drives (WD Purple, SkyHawk) are built for 24/7 recording and last several times longer.

For IP cameras — only NVR. A DVR makes sense when analog cameras are already installed and only the recorder needs replacing.
Do you set up phone access?
Yes: recording, mobile access (Hik-Connect, DMSS), notifications, and settings migration from an old recorder if needed.
