Recorders ship without a hard drive. There is also a 500 GB SkyHawk at 184 900 UZS, but that capacity only suits two cameras and a week of footage. A regular desktop drive lasts far less in a recorder.

Capacity follows a simple formula: camera bitrate (Mbit/s) ÷ 8 × 86 400 ÷ 1000 = gigabytes per day. A 4 MP camera in H.265 holds about 3 Mbit/s, that is 32.4 GB a day; four such cameras over 14 days come to roughly 1.8 TB. With the mandatory 20–25% headroom for loop recording that means a 2 TB drive — a Seagate SkyHawk at 927 900 UZS or a WD Purple at 1 422 900 UZS. Take at least 2 spare channels — cameras almost always get added. Check incoming bitrate and resolution support, not just channels: a cheap 8-channel unit may not handle eight 8 MP cameras.

For homes and small business, HiLook or entry Hikvision/Dahua series are enough; for warehouses and production with analytics — higher series with AcuSense/WizSense.

A cheap power supply and no UPS are the most common reason a recorder goes in for repair ahead of time. Surges and outages hit the drive: whole days of archive disappear, and recovery costs more than an uninterruptible power supply would have.

The second item is the drive: an ordinary desktop model lasts around a year under continuous recording, while a server or surveillance-rated one lasts several times longer. Confirm the warranty and the availability of service in Tashkent before paying.
