Why you need a fire alarm
An automatic fire alarm detects fire at an early stage — by smoke, heat or flame — and triggers notification and evacuation. For most commercial and public buildings this is a fire-safety code requirement.

System types
Conventional (non-addressable) systems are inexpensive and identify the triggered loop; they suit small sites. Addressable and analogue-addressable systems pinpoint the exact detector and monitor its health; they are required for large and critical buildings.
The choice depends on floor area, building purpose and design requirements.
What is included and why a design project matters
The system includes detectors (smoke, heat, manual call points), a control panel, sounders and — where required — smoke extraction and fire suppression automation. All of it must be calculated and approved in a design project.
