Application
Connecting conventional detectors to the addressable line

The Bolid S2000-AR1 version 02 addressable expander lets conventional detectors and sensors be brought onto an Orion addressable line: the expander takes one address and reports the state of the connected loop as if it were an addressable device. It is a lifesaver during upgrades — the old detectors stay in place while the system becomes addressable.

Advantages

  • Upgrading without replacing all the detectors — savings on equipment and installation
  • One address on the line per connected loop
  • Powered from the addressable line, no separate wiring required
  • Its small size lets the module be hidden in a junction box
  • Allows the use of special detectors that have no addressable version

Applications

  • Upgrading alarm systems already in service
  • Connecting specialized sensors with no addressable version
  • Sites moving to an addressable system in stages
  • Local loops in remote rooms

Frequently asked questions

Can several detectors be connected to one expander?
Version 02 is designed for one loop. Several conventional detectors are wired into that loop in the usual way.
Is addressing precision lost?
Yes, the system sees the loop as a whole rather than the individual detector. It is a trade-off between cost and precision of location.
Is the expander suitable for security detectors?
Yes, both security and fire conventional detectors are connected through it.
