The H3C UniServer R4700 G6 is a dual-socket 1U platform on Intel Xeon Scalable. A compact chassis supporting two processors, up to 32 DDR5-5600 modules totalling up to 8 TB, and 2.5-inch and U.2 NVMe drives — a solution for dense placement in a data centre.

When should 1U be chosen over 2U?
When rack space costs more than disk capacity — for example when renting in a data centre. For a large number of drives 2U is the choice.
Why are NVMe drives needed?
They are an order of magnitude faster in I/O operations, which is critical for databases and virtualisation.
Is the server compatible with a virtualisation cluster?
Yes, the platform is used in clusters. We size the node configuration for the workload and the licences.
