Why is a 4K camera needed if 4 MP is enough?

4K (8 MP) exceeds Full HD fourfold in pixel count — this is critical where it is necessary to recognize a person or read a plate at a significant distance or with digital zoom.

Will a 4K camera require an expensive NVR upgrade?

For full 4K recording a compatible NVR supporting the corresponding resolution is required; however, the camera can also transmit lower-capacity streams (1080p) to any NVR with ONVIF support.

How sensitive is the camera at night without turning on IR?

At a sensitivity of 0.005 lux the camera produces a discernible image in very low light; for operation in complete darkness the EXIR IR illumination must be turned on.
