Advantages

  • The 2.5 Gbps port is not a formality: an AX3000 point can push more than a gigabit into the air, and an ordinary gigabit uplink would become the bottleneck.
  • Outdoor construction allows mounting on a façade or pole without an extra enclosure, covering a yard, a terrace or a car park.
  • Antennas with 6 dBi of gain on 5 GHz cover noticeably more ground than indoor points at the same transmit power.
  • Two management modes: standalone FAT for a single unit, and centralised FIT when several points need one common policy.
  • A second gigabit port lets a wired device — an outdoor camera, for instance — hang off the access point instead of getting its own cable run.

Frequently asked questions

Besides the housing, how does an outdoor point differ from an indoor one?
The EAP6230-O has higher-gain antennas and a 2.5 Gbps port instead of a gigabit one, plus a second LAN port for a wired device. The housing is built for temperature swings and rain.
What range does it cover outdoors?
In open ground, reliable 5 GHz coverage is usually 40–60 metres; 2.4 GHz reaches further but slower. Exact figures depend on obstacles and mounting height.
What do FAT and FIT modes mean?
FAT is standalone operation — the point is configured on its own through the web interface. FIT is managed mode, where a controller or DoLynk Care distributes the settings. The latter suits larger deployments.
