The H3C S5130S-28P-EI is a managed L2+ gigabit access switch with power over cable. Twenty-four 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with PoE+ power IP cameras, IP phones and Wi-Fi access points straight over twisted pair, with no separate power supplies. Four SFP+ 1G/10G ports serve as uplinks to the network core.
Advantages
- PoE+ on 24 ports: no sockets needed at cameras and access points at all
- 10 Gbit/s uplinks create no bottleneck with dozens of cameras on the switch
- IRF stacking: several switches are managed as one device
- Static routing, ACLs and QoS right at the access layer
- Management via CLI, web interface and SNMP — to suit any administrator's habits
Applications
- CCTV systems with 20 cameras and more
- Corporate Wi-Fi networks with access points powered over PoE
- Floor access nodes in office buildings
- IP telephony with handsets powered over the cable
Frequently asked questions
Will the PoE budget cover all 24 cameras?
It depends on the cameras' consumption: models with floodlights and heaters need noticeably more. We calculate the budget from the actual equipment list.
Why are 10 Gbit/s uplinks needed?
Twenty-four high-resolution cameras easily overload a gigabit uplink. A ten-gigabit link removes that limit with headroom.
What does IRF stacking give you?
Several switches work as one: a single configuration, a common management address and resilience if one device fails.
