The H3C S5560S-52S-EI is a high-density managed L3 switch: forty-eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and four SFP+ 1G/10G ports. It is used as an enterprise network core or aggregation layer where routing between VLANs and subnets and ten-gigabit uplinks are required.

Advantages

  • Forty-eight ports and L3 routing in a single 1U device
  • Static and dynamic routing: OSPF, BGP, IPv6
  • IRF stacking for a resilient core
  • Access lists and QoS prioritising critical traffic
  • Management via CLI, web, SNMP and NETCONF

Applications

  • Network core of a large office or enterprise
  • Aggregation of floor access switches
  • Networks with many VLANs and subnets
  • Sites with heavy internal traffic

Frequently asked questions

Can the switch be used instead of a router?
For internal routing, yes. For internet access, VPN and firewalling a router is needed.
How is core resilience achieved?
Two switches are combined into an IRF stack: if one fails the network keeps working.
Is IPv6 supported?
Yes, including routing. That matters when moving to new addressing schemes.
