The H3C S6520X-30QC-EI is a managed L3 device for the aggregation and core of enterprise and data centre networks. Twenty-four 1G/10G SFP+ ports, two QSFP+ 40GE ports (each splitting into four 10GE) and two expansion slots. It provides a high density of ten-gigabit connections for servers and access switches.

Why are 40GE ports needed?
For backbones: with dozens of servers at 10 Gbit/s an uplink of the same speed becomes a bottleneck.
What does splitting a QSFP+ port into four give you?
One physical port becomes four ten-gigabit ones — convenient when there are more servers than SFP+ ports.
Is MPLS needed in a corporate network?
In most cases no, but it is in demand with operators and in distributed networks spanning several sites.
