The Hikvision DS-K2M061 door security module closes a well-known weakness of access control systems: if the lock wiring is accessible outside the secured area, the door opens by simply shorting the contacts. The module is installed inside the protected perimeter and takes over control of the lock, so shorting the external line achieves nothing.

How real is this weakness?

On doors where the cable route passes through an unprotected area, yes. For doors with internal wiring it is less critical.
Does the module affect opening speed?
No, there is no delay — the module simply moves the switching point into the protected area.
