CCR2216-1G-12XS-2XQ is the flagship of the Cloud Core Router line: twelve SFP28 ports at 25 Gbps and two QSFP28 at 100 Gbps. Its total throughput places it in a class usually occupied by markedly more expensive hardware.

This is a router for the network core: an ISP node, a traffic exchange point, the backbone between campus buildings or inside a data center. The 100 Gbps ports take the uplinks and the links between core switches, while SFP28 hands 25 Gbps down to the aggregation layer.

A sixteen-core CPU handles routing at a rate where firewalling and BGP with full internet routing tables do not become the bottleneck. Management is RouterOS, the same as on the smaller models, so engineers need no separate training.
