The Linkff FF-B42A PoE switch is the workhorse of a small CCTV system: four PoE ports power cameras straight over the network cable, so no socket and power supply is needed at each camera. Two uplink ports go to the recorder and the router. The metal body dissipates heat better than plastic.

Advantages

  • Power and data over one cable — no sockets needed at the cameras
  • Four ports are enough for a typical small site
  • Two uplinks for the recorder and the router at the same time
  • The metal body dissipates heat better than plastic
  • A simple solution with no configuration: plug in and it works

Applications

  • Flats and private houses with 2–4 cameras
  • Small shops and offices
  • Warehouses and utility rooms
  • Extending an existing system by a few cameras

Frequently asked questions

Is 100 Mbit/s enough for cameras?
For a few cameras at ordinary resolution, yes. With 4K cameras and many streams a gigabit switch is the better choice.
How many cameras can it power?
Four, matching the PoE ports, allowing for the power budget. Cameras with floodlights draw more.
Is a switch needed if the recorder has PoE?
If there are more cameras than ports on the NVR, or they are spread around the site, then yes — a separate switch is more convenient.
