S+RJ10 is an SFP+ transceiver with an RJ-45 socket that lets ordinary twisted pair plug into an optical switch port. It supports six speeds up to 10 Gbps.
This helps when the switch ports are optical but the device to connect has a copper port: a server, an older switch, a workstation. There is no need to buy a separate media converter and find room for it in the rack — the module simply goes into the SFP+ cage.
Automatic speed selection removes manual setup: the module negotiates the mode with the attached device itself, whether that is gigabit or ten gigabit.

What makes the S+RJ10 special?
It turns an SFP+ cage into an RJ45 port up to 10G: a server or NAS with a copper NIC connects to a fiber switch without adapters or extra boxes.
Over what distance does it hold 10G?
Up to 30 meters over Cat6a — typical in-rack and inter-rack runs. At gigabit and 2.5/5G it works over ordinary Cat5e and further.
Why is it warm and what to do about it?
10G over copper is power-hungry; the module runs warm by design. Place it in ventilated switches and not side by side with other hot modules.
