TP-Link DS111P is a multifunctional desktop switch with eight PoE+ ports, one SFP slot for an optical uplink and support for an extended range mode of up to 250 meters. The device combines the simplicity of an unmanaged switch with advanced capabilities: PoE auto-recovery and the long-range mode make it suitable for non-standard installations. An ideal solution for sites where you need to power remote cameras and at the same time have an optical uplink.

Advantages

  • Eight PoE+ ports power a wide range of IP devices over a single cable
  • The SFP slot for an optical uplink allows building long backbones between buildings
  • The 250 m extended range mode covers the perimeter of large sites without repeaters
  • PoE auto-recovery automatically reboots frozen devices without operator involvement
  • The 65 W PoE budget is enough to power several cameras or access points simultaneously
  • 802.3at/af standards ensure compatibility with equipment from most manufacturers

Applications

  • Perimeter video surveillance: cameras at long distances with an optical uplink to the center
  • Industrial sites: reliable power and communication over extended cable runs
  • Geographically distributed sites: communication between buildings via an SFP uplink
  • Parking lots and open areas: camera coverage over a large area

Frequently asked questions

Why is an SFP slot needed on an unmanaged switch?
The SFP slot allows connecting the switch to the upstream network over an optical cable across long distances, which is not possible over a regular copper uplink.
How does PoE auto-recovery work?
The switch regularly checks the connection with the attached PoE devices and, upon detecting a freeze, automatically restarts power on the problematic port.
Do the 250 m mode and the standard mode work simultaneously?
No, the extended range mode is enabled separately and reduces port speed; it is designed specifically for long cable runs, not for standard connections.
