The Pixietech SFP+ WDM 10G optical module with an LC Simplex connector and a 1270 nm wavelength enables bidirectional data transmission at a speed of 10 Gbit/s over a single optical fiber over distances up to 10 kilometers. WDM (BiDi) technology is especially valuable where only a single fiber is available: on already-installed routes or under conditions of a limited number of strands in the cable. The module is used in a pair with a transceiver at a 1330 nm wavelength at the opposite end of the line.

Advantages

  • Single fiber — a full-duplex channel: WDM technology allows transmitting and receiving data over one fiber simultaneously
  • Range up to 10 km: covers distances between buildings and sites within a city
  • Speed of 10 Gbit/s: a high-performance backbone channel for corporate and carrier networks
  • Saving fiber capacity: halves the consumption of cable strands compared to duplex solutions
  • LC Simplex connector: a compact standard for single-fiber optical lines
  • 1-year warranty from Pixietech

Applications

  • Sites with a shortage of optical strands: using existing routes without laying new cables
  • Corporate and carrier networks: backbone links between remote buildings
  • Surveillance systems: transmission of high-resolution video streams over a single fiber
  • Network expansion without construction work: utilizing free single strands in existing cables

Frequently asked questions

Which module should this transceiver be used with at the other end of the line?
A transceiver with a 1270 nm wavelength works in a pair with a WDM module at 1330 nm — together they form a full-duplex channel over a single fiber.
What type of fiber is needed for this module?
The module operates over single-mode (SM) fiber, standard for lines up to 10 km long.
Can the module be used on an already-operational route with one free fiber?
Yes, the WDM solution is most advantageous precisely for such situations — it eliminates the need to lay additional cable.
