TP-Link EAP223 is a dual-band AC1350 ceiling-mounted access point with support for MU-MIMO and Mesh technology, oriented toward medium-scale corporate networks. The device provides a combined speed of up to 1350 Mbit/s: 450 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbit/s on 5 GHz, and simultaneously serves multiple clients thanks to MU-MIMO. Support for roaming and Mesh allows building seamless wireless networks with automatic switching between access points.
Advantages
- MU-MIMO allows serving multiple clients simultaneously without reducing the speed for each one
- Two bands (2.4 and 5 GHz) provide flexibility: slow devices work on 2.4 GHz, fast ones on 5 GHz
- Mesh technology and roaming support ensure seamless movement of clients around the site
- The combined AC1350 speed covers tasks of video conferencing, streaming, and file sharing
- 802.3af PoE or Passive PoE power expands compatibility with existing infrastructure
- A gigabit LAN port eliminates the bottleneck at the level of the wired connection
Applications
- Open-plan offices: seamless Wi-Fi for mobile employees
- Hotels and apart-hotels: coverage of rooms with automatic roaming
- Shopping centers and exhibition halls: a wireless network with high client density
- Educational institutions: Wi-Fi for classrooms with online learning and video conferencing
Frequently asked questions
What is Mesh in the context of EAP223 and how does it work in practice?
Mesh allows EAP223 access points to independently organize a wireless network with automatic traffic routing, simplifying deployment without manual configuration of each device.
Is a separate controller needed to manage multiple EAP223 units?
The access points are managed through a cloud or hardware Omada controller; with a small number of devices, the free Omada SDN software can be used.
Does EAP223 support VLANs for network segmentation?
Yes, through Omada separate VLANs are configured for corporate and guest networks with traffic isolation.
