Description

The compact Pixietech 4-port plastic optical box closes the transition point from the distribution cable to subscriber cords inside buildings. The lightweight housing mounts to a wall with two screws; inside there are fiber holders, a plate for adapters and room for a service slack loop. Up to four fibers are spliced and neatly coiled under the cover, with only subscriber patch cords coming out. For mass FTTH connections it is the most economical format of a termination point.

In a typical floor distribution scheme, the box is installed in an apartment, office or retail unit as a subscriber outlet: a drop cable from the floor closure or cabinet enters it, the fiber is fusion-spliced to a pigtail or terminated with a fast connector, and the subscriber terminal connects with a short patch cord. The plastic housing looks neutral in an interior and draws no attention, while the cover protects splices from dust and accidental touches.

Advantages

  • Lightweight housing — mounted with two screws
  • Fiber holders and room for a slack loop

  • Minimal price for mass connections
  • Quick access to joints under the cover
  • Up to 4 adapter ports in one housing

Applications

  • Apartment FTTH entries
  • Office outlet points
  • Retail units and salons
  • Termination points in hotels and apartments
  • Small floor distribution nodes

Mounting and connection

The box is placed at the cable entry into the premises — usually near the front door or the low-voltage panel, away from direct water and mechanical impact. The housing is fixed to the wall with two screws, the drop cable enters through the side inlet and is secured, and the fiber is spliced to a pigtail or terminated with a fast connector. The fiber slack is coiled around the holders while respecting the allowed bend radius — kinks in this section account for most of the losses. Adapters go onto the standard plate, after which the line is checked with a power meter. The box usually comes together with drop cable, pigtails, SC adapters and patch cords — the whole kit is stocked at the SAT Solutions warehouse in Tashkent, and we will match the set to the site.

Frequently asked questions

How does a plastic box differ from a metal one?
It is lighter, cheaper and intended for interior installation; metal is chosen for heavily loaded and outdoor nodes.
Is the box suitable as a subscriber outlet?
Yes, that is its typical use — a neat transition point to the subscriber's patch cord.
How many fibers can be spliced?
Up to 4 fibers, with the slack coiled inside the housing.
Can splicing be avoided during termination?
Yes, the fiber may be terminated with a fast connector — then a stripper and a cleaver are enough for the installation.
